Our New York City Metro-area client is experiencing strong year-over-year growth and is seeking a hands-on Senior Director of Product Development & Research in Hair Care to carry out all research and product development. A solid, stable history of bringing similar products to the market is seen as needed for success in this role tasked with creativity and commercialization.
Working with clinical testing to create marketable claims and with outside vendors to drive innovation, this leader will be a critical link in the success of the organization. Successfully bringing similar hair care products (as well as skincare or personal care products) to the marketplace will be seen as strong indicators of future success in this role.

Job Duties:
- ● Lead, manage, and grow research & development department and personnel to achieve company growth goals
- ● Interact with other department heads and customers to guide product development to completion
- ● Take products from initial product conception through first production, including but not limited to product formulation, documentation, scale-up, and process development
- ● Review and refine product formulations with an eye towards efficacy and regulatory requirements
- ● Oversee involvement with key vendors and drive towards better supply chain efficiencies
Bring the following skills and experience to the table for immediate consideration:
- ● Bachelors or Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering, Biology or Chemistry (or related)
- ● 5 years product development and formulation experience in hair care (some of which could be in skincare)
- ● Past supervisory experience with direct management experience preferred
- ● Working history of FDA-submissions and regulatory responsibilities
- ● Strong communication and leadership Skills
- ● Strong industry supplier contacts
- ● Hands-on understanding of the cosmetic manufacturing process
- ● Previous product launch experience
- ● Self-starter attitude
