A well-known, US-based contract manufacturer of high-end skincare (as well as body and hair care) is seeking a Manager or Director of Business Development. For this expansion role, they are seeking 10-15 years of experience selling contract manufacturing services to the skincare/cosmetics/personal care industry. Alternatively, selling of ingredients or packaging to the same industry could be a close fit.

In this position you will call on established and indie brands alike to create awareness and close new sales. This role requires current access and knowledge of buyers of contract manufacturing in this industry, ideally, on a national level. While most of current accounts on are the West Coast, they are seeking to expand to client base across the US. For this reason, this position could be remote (based from a home office) with 50% travel expected to clients/prospects and corporate headquarters in the Bay Area, CA.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for strategizing, launching, and scaling up business operations in new markets
- Build market position by locating, developing, defining, and closing business through relationship and consultative selling
- Screen potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, and financials
Requirements
- 10-15+ years selling contract manufacturing (or ingredient or packaging) to the skincare, cosmetics, or personal care industry
- Possess strong technical understanding of sales process involved in contract manufacturing (a background in formulation, research & development, or product development, highly desired)
- Have access to buyers at established brands and indie brands within the industry
- Approximately 50% travel as needed to prospects, clients and HQ
- Outstanding organizational, time-management and follow-up skills
- Excellent written, oral and listening skills
- Ability to coach, mentor, teach and motivate future sales team members
