Retail shelves are filled with products competing for consumer’s attention, so design your packaging to stand out from the crowd. Recent trends have included a number of innovative ideas, such as dual-chamber bottles, “smart” packaging, and 3D printing. Expect shoppers to judge your product by what’s on the outside.

  1. Create a Cohesive Online and In-Store Experience

People are purchasing more beauty products online now than ever before. In fact, during the last holiday season, 16 percent more shoppers chose to shop online than head to a store. Consequently, it is now more important than ever to provide customers with the same experience, regardless of their chosen shopping method. Never underestimate the importance of brand identity.

  1. Concentrate on the Hispanic Demographic

The Hispanic demographic has more than $3 trillion in spending power. While sales in many beauty categories — including hair care, cosmetics, shaving and personal care appliances — have declined overall, spending in these areas has grown in Hispanic households. Hispanic spending in seven major beauty categories grew year-over-year from 2013 to 2014, and is expected to continue its rise.
